Find my app problems

I think there is a bug in Find My.

recently I used it to find a missing iPad. We realised it was missing and thought it had been left behind 100 miles away. I remembered Find My. Brilluant it said it was with us. Pressed the button to play a sound, Nothing.

enabled ‘tell me if left behind’ we went out . !! We got a message that it was left behind. So it was here but couldn’t find it. We move on, no message that was left behind. 100 miles away checked it. Arghh now it said it was back where we had cone from!!! Later further on we set locked. And activated it. Ahh NOW it rang loudly and we were able to find it. So why didn’t it ring when we pressed ‘play a sound’ and why did it think

it was 100 miles away when it was with us, and it had previously found it. All the time it was actually only 2 feet away.

does it only work if you set it as locked and activate it. This needs to be put in the use instructions.
