I can't stand using Preview now, i can't save as, it opens a new window which is WHAT I DO NOT WANT.
i do not see any way to export a .webp file as .jpg, my only choice is TIFF, again what i do not want.
Any workarounds?

Remarkably, I never was aware of this use of the option key for this Preview menu until I saw your reply ... good to know.
The File => Export ... item in the File menu is equivalent to Save As.
I am not familiar with .webp files, but if you can export as TIFF, you can then use Preview to Export the TIFF file as JPG.
I've been using Macs for longer than I care to remember and I'm still finding new things I wasn't aware of.
