iCloud Storage Plan

How do I know that my iCloud storage has been canceled? It’s still showing the $0.99 plan, can you verify that the plan has been canceled or switched?

See the following from Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan - Apple Support

If you downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan, the change takes effect after your current subscription billing period ends.1

Also see the screenshots in the above support article and note the words "Renews on [date]" in the light print. That wording will change if the plan is cancelled.
