Why can I not access my QWERTY keyboard on messenger with myApple Watch 7?

When trying to access the QWERTY keyboard with messenger on my Apple Watch 7 it says “finish entering text on your ISO device”. My phone and watch have both had software updates. I can access my keyboard with other programs like mail and text messages. It is just with the messenger app.
