battery life watchOS 9

I have the series 5 with cellular. After updating my watch it will not make it thru a full day. Is anybody else having this problem? Or can you give me some tip on how to improve my battery life. I use to go two days before I have to charge.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

As for me personally, I’m using an AWS4 running watchOS 9, and haven’t had any issues with battery runtime, and the max capacity % for my battery actually requires service. But I have seen no change with the battery life with updating watchOS.

That being said, you might need to confirm your battery health on your watch by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

Note: If your Apple Watch requires battery service, you can confirm that here, and you are also provided with available service options.

Next, I would confirm if you have Optimized Battery Charging enabled. It’s usually enabled by default, so try disabling it and seeing if that resolves your issue.

If you are still having issues, you can try enabling Low Power mode on your Apple Watch, as it was introduced with watchOS 9 to help maximize battery life.

Hi All,

For people who have this issue, I have found the solution.

Go to Watch app -> General -> Analytic Log

If you find tons of files, this is a crash report log. I believe something is constantly crashing in the background, which is causing this battery issue.

I have cleared all the contents from Watch App -> General -> Reset

Apple watches backups frequently, so you should able to restore it easily.

The only thing you need to do is to add Apple Pay if you have configured it in your watch.

Hope this helps!!

Have the same problem with a Series 5.

Since 9.0.2 battery runs down within 2 or 3 hours of a full charge. Was fine before the update. And Battery health is 84%.

Have tried all usual fixes - setting adjustments, resets, unpairing etc, but watch is now essentially unusable.

Additionally Digital Crown now longer scrolls when turned. These issues only started since 9.0.2.

Must be software related, apple need to get a fix released.

Some followup information. When I enable Power Saving mode, and the Watch 100% charged at 7 am in the morning....

  • yesterday, when I didn't do too much moving, the battery expired around 9 pm
  • today, when I had the temerity to do a 30 minute running workout, it expired at 2pm

This device no longer has any material utility. Will you address the software issue ?
