Why are certain iPhone notifications in Spanish when my language is set to English only?

For years now, certain notifications on my iPhone have been delivered in Spanish. I only speak English.

I tried to troubleshoot this for years on my iPhone 11 to no avail. Now it's happening on my new 14 Pro and I'm starting to get frustrated. Here is what I know:

-- According to Settings>Language & Region, English is–and has always been–my only preferred language. Is there any other setting I should be checking?

-- on a hunch, I checked my Google account settings––since notifications in Chrome and Docs were in Spanish––but English is my only preferred language there.

-- I tried replicating the problem on my iPad, and curiously enough, the same Google app notifications that come through in Spanish on my iPhone come through in English on my iPad.

I've attached screenshots of the Spanish notifications from my iPhone and a normal English one on my iPad. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Ih8appl,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having some issues with Google app notifications appearing in another language. It sounds like you've taken the correct steps in checking your iPhone language as mentioned in Change the language on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support.

Since this continues and seems to impact only Google apps, it may be best to reach out to them directly. If you need help finding their contact information, use the following steps from How to contact an app developer - Apple Support.

"Contact the developer of an iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS app

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.
  3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID."

Take care.
