Sony DV Camcorder compatibility with imovie
Hello, My camera, Sony DCR-TRV20 is not on the list of supported cameras. Any suggestion for getting my camera connected to download movies?

Hi, Mau4338,
Not to worry.
Most Mini DV cameras are supported for importing Mini DV to the Mac, even if they are not listed amongst the supported cameras. That being said, importing Mini DV footage can be a bit hit or miss. It usually works, but for some inexplicable reason sometimes it doesn't. Missing sound can sometimes be an issue.
To give it a try, connect your camcorder to your Mac with Firewire out of the camcorder. The newer Macs don't have a firewire socket, so if yours falls in that category add the necessary adapters to plug into your MacBook Pro Thunderbolt or USB-c ports. It may require more than one adapter.

Adding to my previous post: If you have difficulty importing directly into iMovie try instead importing into the QuickTimePlayer app on your Mac.

Thanks Rich...I will give this one more try. I also found out that I am supposed to go on my camera Menu and set it to AV out.
You are welcome. Good luck with this.
There will be a section in your Sony's user manual that explains how to import to a computer.
