Magic Keyboard and packing it for travel

Finding it hard to understand that few others experience this:

When I travel my magic keyboard, it will generate keystrokes over bluetooth if anything touches the keys [of course]; this can lead to all sorts of key repeats until one gets the keyboard out of whatever it's stored in. Apart from using the original cardboard box I haven't seen a cover that keeps the keys from being contacted by things around it. The original box is wearing out so this is a concern for me.

The obvious thing is to unpack it before starting my mac [MBP] but this isn't always convenient; so does anyone know of a Magic Kbd cover that isolates the keys please?

I’m not sure what to say, but all keyboards listed on the Apple site do indeed have an on/off switch. All located in the same or similar position, along the back edge, near the right corner.

Keyboard Cover:

Get a keyboard cover for it, likely found on Amazon. All keys will be isolated. Just don't use on on your Mac, as condensation becomes a common issue,

Thanks... yes, but perhaps you didn't read the question fully. My question was looking for recommendations FOR a cover.

I've found one but 99% of those I could find on Amazon are soft covers or leather, and my experience with these is that they will still likely allow keys to be depressed [ I've got a backpack sheath that protects but still allows this; I was more hunting for one like the one I've found here in Australia that has a firm outer shell that keeps the keys isolated well from pressure from outside contact - like the original Apple packaging. I only found 2 anywhere that have this kind of construction, and apart from one made for the Logitech MX, none others on Amazon. The one here through Auspower I'm likely to buy or one on Alipay.

Firm Outer Shell:

Then why would you mention about a "firm outer shell" and nothing about the inside? Seems you have second-guessed yourself. Reading your second reply, took it as if you wanted a hardshell case. If you want something with a soft inside, then use a small laptop cover inside of this. And that the best I can think of.

there is no on/off switch on an Apple Magic Keyboard 2 [A1843] stedman1.

if you mean on the MBP - well yes there is - but as I said, sometimes I need to work with the keyboard stored [say] and the MK is sending a repeat keystroke. I've had this happen when the keyboard is somewhere around the house in a backpack or similar.

Another problem is the any-key-touch startup default for the MBP which is one of the most braindead implementations I've witnessed on a Mac [I've been using them since 1984] given that you can't disable this, so then if the keyboard is being triggered, it will keep making the MBP wake from sleep mode [since now it's on] and the **** thing will heat up something fierce in my backpack. Excuse the rant but it's part of what has me trying to find a touch-free case for the keyboard.

You are welcome.

Based on Personal Experience:

Magic Keyboard and packing it for travel: No worries. I read you entire post. I just cut out a line or so, providing item to get the to point. That is the way I post replies. Using hardshell case would likely damage the innards of the keys whether ornate it is stored way., and AppleCare does not cover intentional damage. So, using a rubberized keyboard cover on the keyboard is the best way for this.

oh my. this site does my head in - now I've made your post the "best answer" which seems not undoable. With respect, your answers are far from the solution, nor on point in my humble opinion.

I asked for suggestions FOR a cover. Your first reply suggested a cover.

hard shells with soft insides are what I meant. there are plenty around for portable mac devices and that's still what I'd prefer since my experience is that the more one applies pressure to the keys [as the neoprene and leather ones inadvertently do] the more one tends to see failures in keys in my experience. I've owned upwards of 50 keyboards across the years and those that don't travel [and get this kind of pressure] or see less use almost invariably suffer less from dead keys.
