Call log issue

After upgrading to iOS 16 my call log started behaving weird.

It the list, both for missed and received calls it has started to add multiple contacts.

So, for instance if I miss a call from my wife it says that she called plus someone else too, at the same time. Same thing happens for the outgoing calls, it shows the one I actually did call plus someone else - at the same line and on the same time.

obviously I did not receive calls from two persons at the same time (I have double checked) and did not call two persons at the same time either.

i have not stored the same number for multiple contacts, my contact book seems to be correct still.

Anyone else had this issue?

Try this whether your contacts are in iCloud or in your chosen email account

(You might want to back up the phone first, and if your contacts are phone only you have no remedy)

Close Contacts app. then for

Contacts in iCloud:

Settings, Your name, iCloud, Turn off contacts

Contacts in another email account:

Settings, Contacts, Accounts

Find the account with Contacts turned on. Turn contacts off

When asked if you want to keep them, choose “delete from my iphone ”

Open Contacts app and it should be empty.

Power the phone off and back on.

Then

Contacts in iCloud:

Settings, Your name, iCloud, Contacts. Turn it On

Contacts in another email account:

Settings, Contacts, Accounts

Find the account with the Contacts again. Turn contacts On

Open Contacts app and it should be re-populated.

Then try another missed call.

Many thanks! I tried it and also deleted the call history. Worked for a first test call, will see tomorrow if it continues to work 🙂

I don't understand why the call history went, `Recents' should have temporarily remained but showing numbers not names, then names reappeared after re-establishing contacts, but good luck.

It did show numbers instead of names like you said. I manually deleted the recent list myself 🙂 It was messed up with all those “fake” logs so I wanted to get rid of it.
