I can’t change my payment method from credit card to gift card. I’ve tried the suggested steps many times. It won’t let me out of the credit card page and I am not adding my new card. That is why I bought the gift card. Which I can not use now. Please help!

you have to have the credit or debit card on file and set as the default payment before the gift card balance will be used. The redeemed gift card (Apple ID balance) should be used first when making App Store purchases.
