Wrist Temperature Baseline

Will my wrist temperature baseline change over time?

During my baseline configuration for my new Apple Watch 8, I came down with a fever for two nights. Now my normal nights are significantly below baseline. Will it adjust? If not, how do I fix it?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Interstellarscout!

We understand you setup your Apple Watch temperature feature while you were having a fever and want to set it up correctly. We'd be happy to provide information to help you out.

You can actually go to the Health app and delete that initial reading. Open the Health app > Browse > Body Measurements > Wrist Temperature > Show All Data. You can delete that first reading. The readings will adjust as time goes on. More information about tracking your temperature can be found here:

We hope this helps.

I have a related question. I am currently tracking my 5 first nights of wrist temperature. However, I know that my ovulation took place a few days before I started tracking. My baseline temperature will then reflect my luteal phase temperature (at least in the beginning). What will happen after I get my period next time? Will the daily temperature readings then have negative values in my chart during the follicular phase?

To clarify the question, will the long term baseline temperature eventually adapt, so the algorithm rather uses my follicular phase temperature (before ovulation) as the baseline, or will the baseline temperature forever be based on when in the cycle I started the readings?
