Microsoft has the details in this page.

Office Home & Student 2016 for Mac

Office Home & Business 2016 for Mac

System requirements are macOS 10.10 or later

Office 2019 for Mac Standard

The next release was Office for Mac 2019 and that requires the most recent three version of macOS (which is to say Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey - and when Ventura is released soon Catalina will be unsupported).

Microsoft says, "Office for Mac is supported on the three most recent versions of macOS. As new major versions of macOS are made generally available, Microsoft will stop support for the oldest version and support the newest and previous two versions of macOS."

Microsoft will not let you install any new installation of MS Office into macOS High Sierra, as the license servers have been deactivated for their retired products (Office 2011/2016 for Mac), and Microsoft (currently) requires macOS Catalina for any compatible installation. That will soon change to Big Sur once Apple releases macOS 13 (Ventura).

The only means to re-install Office 2011 for Mac, or Office 2016 for Mac on High Sierra would be direct to the original Mac and startup drive where it was previously installed, and by means of a Time Machine Restore.

The current release of SoftMaker's Office 2021 (clone) for Mac is supported on macOS High Sierra. There is a free trial of this software for you to make a purchase determination.

A steeper learning curve resides with the free LibreOffice Suite (clone) and documentation which will support High Sierra for new installations until Feb 2023 when it will require Mojave.
