New Macbook Air data transfer

Transferring Data from Old Macbook Air backup to new Macbook via Migration Wizard

I started migrating data from a Time Machine backup from an old Mcbook Air to a new model with 1TB of local storage on Sunday. Its been 4 days (now Wednesday) and it is still not done. The hour/minute count is only increasing -- now saying "About 134 hours and 33 minutes remaining." It seems like the transfer is "hung" and not proceeding. Should I cancel and start over? Any damage to new Mac by restarting the process?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! We see you were linked from the article "Move your content to a new Mac". As noted in the article:

"Large transfer might need hours to complete"

You'll want to keep both computers near each other on a reliable network as well.

If you have followed those steps, are you seeing any specific errors?
