Go to System Preferences->iCloud->iCloud Drive->Options->Desktop and Documents Folders, and uncheck the option.

iCloud desktop backup I accidentally deleted the desktop and documents from icloud on my phone thinking it would still stay on my mac, but now the files are not on my mac and i cannot recover it. How can I get back those files I thought they were also stored locally.

how to select which folders to back up on icloud? My iCloud is currently backing up all my documents and desktop folders. I want to be able to select which folders to back up so I can manage my storage better and not fill my iCloud quicker
