Microphone Volume iPhone 14 ProMax with CarPlay

When I upgraded my iPhone 13 Pro Max to the same iPhone 14, my Apple CarPlay stopped working for phone calls. The microphone volume is too low on CarPlay, so the person I am talking with can’t hear me.

Having done research I’ve learned that this has been a common problem for many iPhone users for several years. This is my first experience with this problem.

I know that Apple’s response will be a bunch of dumb stuff about steps to take, upgrading software, rebooting and such, even though anyone taking the time to post a problem will have obviously exhausted all of the basics.

My problem is not a software version issue. Both my IOS and CarPlay firmware is the latest version. I have tried a brand new Apple cable. I have toggled every conceivable setting to no avail.

If anyone has had success fixing this problem, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I haven’t had the issue and have tried to duplicate it in 4 different cars so far (my 2022 Buick Enclave, 2020 Nissan Murano, 2018 Nissan Sentra, and 2022 Ford F-250). In making sure I just haven’t been lucky with my own device just not being affected ever driver of the other cars didn’t experience the issue with their iPhones (all using iOS 16 but only 2 being iPhone 14 series). My first suggestion is usually to check to make sure your head unit doesn’t have a new update available (if you can do so OTA. If you have to install via USB or memory card checking the website for your head unit to see if an update is available or if you have to have the dealership do it) but it sounds like you already did this. I also suggest going to a user forum for your vehicle to see if others have posted there about issues and more important…if any one has had success making it work. Definitely report the issue to Apple via the form so they’ll be aware there appears to be a bug. I hate some seem to be having issues but I have been lucky enough to have never had an issue on any version.
