12 Pro Max Home screen and lock screen

I've used two different pictures for my home screen and lock screen for months. I decided to change the photo yesterday, using the same pic for both home and lock screen. When I woke up in the morning my old home screen and lock screen photos were the background pictures. Why did this happen? Was my phone remotely restored? Was it a glitch? Is it a sign of some sort of compromise to my device? Has anyone experienced this before?

Thank you

Hello bello231,

If you're using iOS 16, it's possible to link a particular Lock Screen to a Focus. In that case, switching to a particular Focus can switch the Lock Screen/wallpaper.

To check on that, head to your Lock Screen and press and hold on a blank area to bring up the Customize screen. swipe amongst the options here and see if any say something besides 'Focus' at the bottom, such as 'Sleep', 'Personal', etc.

This page has info on this here: Use Focus on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Connect your Lock Screen to Focus
1. Go to Settings > Focus.
2. Select the Focus that you want to customize, then choose the Lock Screen.
3. Create a new Lock Screen, select an existing Lock Screen, or select multiple Lock Screens that you want to connect to this Focus.
4. Tap Done.

Cheers.
