Since my computer updated to the current Quicktime, I am no longer able to export my music files to wav format. If the procedure changed, I am unaware. I used to open the mp3 or similar file in QT and bring the music bar all the way to the end the do file export. The export option is grayed out and I am unable to select it. Please advise. Thank you
Open the QuickTime Preference Pane and click the "Register" tab. Does your registration info show up? Did you used to own QuickTime 6 Pro?
QT 7 Pro requires a new purchase.
Open the .mp3 file and then Command-E to open the Export dialog window. Choose "Export: Sound to Wave" and click "Options" to adjust the export settings.
Sorry. Tiger comes with QuickTime 7 and it says right on the box that installing it will render previous versions of QuickTime obsolete.
You'll have to purchase a new key or use some "tricks" to install an older version of the QT Player.
I use both 6.5.2 and 7.0.3 Players on my Tiger machine. Both are "Pro".
After checking, I'm not quite sure I understand. I purchased my Powerbook G4 with the latest version of OS and have always been able to open a song in Quicktime and click on file and export. Why all of a sudden has it changed?
I tried opening an m4p file from my library and was able to export it. I have 4 songs in my library that I downloaded from Apple and paid for and those are the songs that for some reason are not exporting. Any ideas?
Well done and understood!
If you "convert" your "protected" .mp4 files (no need to actually "burn" the CD version) you can use "protected music" in any of your "i" apps.
iTunes can "convert the .aiff format. iMovie "knows" what to do with the file. iPhoto can allow you to "export" your sound track.
Simple and easy with a Mac or even a PC.
An.m4p file is an iTunes purchased file. The p stands for "protected".
You can play them on your computer or your iPod or burn the file to CD. But you can't convert them using QuickTime Pro.
