iPad Pro Charging Icon Blinks

Starting a couple of weeks ago I noticed that my iPad Pro charged weirdly: the icon would sometimes disappear from the lock screen, and other times the charging icon would simply blink (alternating between the charging sign and normal battery sign).

I have reset the device (soft reset, force restart and hard reset) and the issue persists. I have also tried charging it with a brand new Apple USB C cable and adapter, without result.

The device does charge, if the blinking doesn't start (it's a hit and miss).

Is this a software or hardware issue? A quick search tells me others have experienced the same thing (on an iPhone too).

Hi Neejan,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

This article may be able to help: If your iPad won't charge.

We'd advise these steps.

  1. Try a different cable.
  2. Make sure Lightning port is free of debris.
  3. Make sure the temperature isn't too hot or cold.
  4. Force Restart the iPad.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, we'd recommend that you Contact Apple Support.

Have a fantastic day!
