Setting a contact zoom that will hold in that modified
In iPhone 12, IOS Contact photo does not keep zoom cropping and shifts back to Original in the update. Same question that was asked in 2014.

Zooming Info
Open the photo in the Photos app, and then zoom in. Then, take a screenshot of that zoom. Next, save that file. Finally, use that new photo. Does that fix this?
