iPhone 14 pro max zooming glitch

Are you sure what you’re seeing isn’t the camera focusing? At any rate…no I haven’t noticed an issue on mine. You can take the new one back if you like and if they replace it again open it before you leave the store to avoid any issues.

Ok. Again, I haven’t experienced the issue so I can’t help you with that. You will need to take it back, hope they have another device in stock to replace yours with again if they deem it needs to be replaced…and it would be a good idea to open before leaving and check that it works as you expect.

I completely understand (I likely wouldn’t expect the issue again if I were in the same position) but since you got home with this one and the issue seems to still be there that’s why I said it would be a good idea to check in store before leaving…unless you don’t mind needing to go back again if the issue exists in another new device. Unfortunately, because I haven’t seen what you describe on any of the 14 pro max devices in my home now I just can’t come up with any assistance for you on that or guess if it’s a glitch and not a hardware issue (I just noticed you said you were updated to 16.2 but I assume you mean 16.0.2…or you are using a beta version although I would think that would be 16.1 and not 16.2). Curious…was the issue happening prior to upgrading iOS or was it like that even with the initial 16.0 iOS?

Ok. Well then all I can say is you might need to head back to the store. I know some had issues camera in 3rd party apps but you didn’t say you were using social media or anything (if so…then that’s a known issue and Apple attempted to fix it with 16.0.2. Some have said the issue remained)…

Yes, i notice it too! When I attempt to put my subject close up, you can see the transition of the camera. I dont think it suppose to happen like this. I am unable to share video here. Thus here is a link of the video i recorded while attempting to execute the glitch and posted on FB.

I just tested this on mine and swapping from 0.5x to any other lens has a jump, swapping from 1x to 3x has a jump and 2x to 3x has a jump, all the rest are smooth swaps. Not so fabulous!

Hi, For me the same issue. Especially when recording a video, when zooming gradually from 1 or 2x toom to 3x zoom. The camera switches from lens i suppose, but than my view shifts (what i see on mij screen) So it looks like the whole view moves upwards. And it is annoying because therfore my focus-object of my video changes. It is also noticeable when playing the video.

The strange thing is that when zooming in while taking a 'foto', this 'shifting' doesn't occur.

I’m experiencing exactly the same. Did you get this sorted? If so how?

I have iphone 14 pro. The zoom problem is not when you choose the zoom distance from the list. It is happening when you zoom in/out gradually. A jump in the video will be there and, I think it is because the switch between the cameras.

Has anyone determined if this is a glitch? It’s pretty annoying to be recording a video and have such a big jump when zooming in/out. Has anyone taken it to the Apple Store?

I have contacted Apple support and even send video samples and demonstrated the issue remotely to them. Customer service officer Brian assisted me and sent this “issue” to their engineering team.

He got back to me a week later with their engineers reply.

“it is suppose to work like this and there is nothing wrong, so no patches or update will be made on this issue”

and the case is closed.

i can’t say much, but only feel disappointed on this.
