iOS Safari

Safari on iPhone previously used to play videos full screen by disappearing the address bar while using the browser in landscape mode. But now the address bar along with open tabs keep showing on top of the screen causing videos to play play in the remaining space which is annoying. Im using iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 15.6 since iOS 16 isn’t coming to the device. Can anyone help me how to get safari to disappear the address bar like previously during a full screen video ?

Hi Lucky Sri,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

When the video is playing, do you not have the option to hit the fullscreen button?

To rule out an issue with a particular website, does this happen on all websites you try to view videos?

If so, see if you have this option during the video:

"Hide the search field: Tap Hide Toolbar (tap the top of the screen to get it back)."

This is taken from our resource: Customize your Safari settings on iPhone

Since you should be able to see videos in Safari full screen on iOS 15.6, try restarting your iPhone to see if this refreshes Safari and corrects the issue:

  1. "Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. ""

  3. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  4. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo."

Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
