Annoying onscreen keyboard button

How do I get rid of this onscreen button? I tried moving it, but when I start to type again it pops back over in the way.

The icon at bottom right of the screen allows you to easily expose the on-screen keyboard for input of special characters that cannot be accessed from the physical keyboard (e.g. emoji) - and access voice controls.

The icons cannot be relocated, butbe disabled from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Keyboard > [All Keyboards] Shortcuts - set to OFF
