Sorry, Steave1265, I was looking at your images last night and scratching my head, trying to work out why your screen looked different to mine, as I scrolled through all the possible views. I never view in Genre view, so I have it hidden, and didn’t think to look there. I must say, I’m a little envious, when I’m in Genre view, the only view options I get are to sort the albums by title, artist, year or rating, so you’re doing better than me there.
As suggested by ed2345, you’ll need to send feedback to Apple and pray they act upon it. In the meantime, if you only want to view one specific genre at a time, you could create a smart playlist that has only one rule, being “Genre is…” and each time you want to view a different genre, just change the rule to whatever genre it is you’re after. You could then view this playlist as songs, with “Show Artwork” deselected. From there you could sort the playlist to your liking, depending upon which columns you have visible. If you don’t want to keep changing the rule, you could create a playlist folder called “Genres” and make a smart playlist, as described above, for each of your genres, within that folder.
*Tip: You could add extra rules to refine the list, for example, “Location – On this computer”, “Media Kind – Music”. If you are going to create a list for each genre and put in more than one rule, it may pay to create the first playlist and get it looking exactly how you want, including which columns are visible in Song view, then duplicate the playlist enough times to cover each genre, then you will only need to amend the “Genre is…” rule, rather than adding and tweaking all of them – and change the name of the playlist to match (by copy and pasting whatever you have in the “Genre is…” field.
