To me the easiest thing is to File>Export to a folder on you mac, and then drag that to an email. If this is a really large file, some email systems may reject it, but try it. If that's a problem, try export as "Standard Definition" for the smallest file. If that doesn't work you can use a file sharing service like Dropbox or iCloud.

You can only export as a Movie, but first you have to select the movie quality. Select 1080p for the highest possible quality. This will export a video in m4v format.
Try File>Create>Slideshow>Photos. This will make a movie of the pictures you picked, and it's located under "Projects" at the bottom of the sidebar. You can export that as a movie file.
If there are many pictures, it will take awhile. Go get a cup of coffee....
Are you using the app Photos, or iPhoto? iPhoto is an older program.
In Photos, in Export, it should say [name].m4v. the m4v indicates that it is a movie.
My slideshow was created as a Vintage Prints slideshow in Iphoto. When I attempt to export there is no option for exporting as a Movie, just Definition options: 480p,720p and 1080p. This did not solve my problem
Thanks - I was able to share as an Imessage. My goal was to email this to a colleague in Columbia, who appears in the movie/slideshow. Is there a way to email this movie file?
