If you have actually installed the DuckDuckGo browser, you can check its settings to determine your default browser, as in the screenshot below.
Duck Duck Go isn't a browser. It's a search engine.
Open Safari. Open its preferences. Change which search engine you want to be the default.
Great observation. Missed the keyword "Browser."
And I have missed the fact that it is not on an iPad, as my screenshot indicates 🤦
