New iPhone 14 Pro 1TB - storage filling up fast

I just purchased a new iPhone 14 Pro with 1TB storage (a very nice phone by the way). The phone is running iOS 16.0.2. I transferred everything over from the old iPhone 11 Pro (also running iOS 16.0.2) to the new phone. The actual storage used is about 227 GB, but it's filling up fast with... something (System Data). Now, about 30 minutes after restart, it's used 266 GB of the storage, with the System Data class being the one that fills up. I'll have to restart it again in the evening. The old phone doesn't experience this.

A restart is the only thing that works temporarily. All full-res pictures and video are in iCloud. I've cleaned the Safari cache. Nothing I've tried works permanently.

Is there a fix for this, or is it a known bug that will (eventually) be fixed in an update from Apple?

I have this exact same issue. It seems to only affect people who have upgraded from iPhone 11 Pro to iPhone 14 pro.

The general consensus, from searches I’ve done, is that the only fix is to wipe it and start again as though it was a new phone, but don’t restore your old backup. I’ve resisted doing this so far because it’s a real pain to set all my apps up again. I think I might have to do it at some point though.

I have the identical issue, but I upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to an iPhone 14 pro max. Went on cellular data sitting nicely of 140 gigs storage on my phone, but as soon as I had to Wi-Fi in jumps up to one terabyte. I am really not willing to start with a new phone. The reason I stay with Apple is to prevent the need to do that and ultimately, if I was being told that was the only solution I’ve been more willing to move to a different brand. I’m really looking for a workaround, so I’d be grateful if an apple member of staff could advise

I have the same issue, but I went from iPhone 13 Pro to the 14 Pro. Support was going to have me do the full wipe and everything, but I didn’t want to do that. As someone else mentioned, the issue is resolved when I restart the phone and disconnect the Wi-Fi. I just upgraded to iOS 16.1 and hoped the issue would be fixed, but System Data started filling up within 5 min of the upgrade. Back to cellular data I guess.
