iPhone 14 pro troubleshooting

How do I remove the esim with factory setup? I got a 14 pro for my wife and she tried to activate it with the wrong company. Now it is stuck in a loop at the initial startup of the phone activation (where you choose wifi network, country,) then it goes to the screen that says “it may take a few minutes to activate your phone”, then goes to a screen that says “sim not supported”. I have factory reset the phone but was not given an option to keep or remove esim, and I can’t get past that screen to get into settings.

Thanks for replying, a_r_kitekt, and that additional info, it really helps! Since you are getting a "SIM not supported" error message, please follow these steps, including contacting Apple directly:

"1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
2. If you're using a cellular-data connection, connect to a reliable Wi-Fi network instead.
3. If you get an error message on your iPhone or iPad that says the activation server is temporarily unavailable or cannot be reached when trying to activate, wait a few minutes, then repeat the previous steps.
If you still can't activate your iPhone or iPad, try again using your computer instead:
1. Make sure that you have the latest version of macOS or the latest version of iTunes.
2. Check that your computer has an internet connection.
3. With the cable that came with your iPhone or iPad, connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer. Locate your device on your computer.
4. Wait while your computer detects and activates your iPhone or iPad:
•If an alert appears that says "Set up as New" or "Restore from Backup," it means your iPhone or iPad is activated.
•If you get an error message on your computer that says that the SIM card isn't compatible or is invalid, contact your carrier.
•If you get an error message that says the "activation information was invalid" or "activation information could not be obtained from the device," use recovery mode to restore your iPhone or iPad.
If you still can't activate your iPhone or iPad, contact Apple Support."

Hello a_r_kitekt,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about removing your eSIM, and we'd like to help. The following link may be able to assist, as this helps with removing an eSIM: How to erase the eSIM on your iPhone - Apple Support

Learn how to erase your eSIM, if you need to.

You might need to erase your eSIM if:
You transferred the eSIM's phone number to another iPhone
You're going to sell, trade in, or give away your device
Don't erase your eSIM as a troubleshooting step unless directed to by your carrier.
If you erase your eSIM, you'll need to contact your carrier to get a new one. Then set up your new eSIM.
To erase your eSIM:
Go to Settings.
Tap either Cellular or Mobile Data.
Tap the plan that you want to erase.
Tap Delete eSIM.
If you erase all content and settings from your iPhone, you can choose to erase your eSIM as well or keep it.
If you want to cancel your cellular plan, you still need to contact your carrier to cancel the plan.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards.

@jmanna13 while I appreciate the advice, if you’ll notice in the original post, I can’t get that far. During the initial setup of the phone, I choose the wifi, then the language, then the country, then it goes to the “it may take a few minutes to activate your phone” screen, then after a few seconds it goes to a screen that says “sim not supported” and that little explanation message underneath it, but can neve get past thst page. I can go back, all the way to the language screen. But I can’t even make it to the Home Screen to access settings.
