Watch Series 8 battery charging

I've had my new Series 8 watch for only a few days now, and compared to the Series 7, it's taking around 50% longer to charge. The series 7 watch was fully charged after sleep tracking within 50 minutes. Series 8 is taking an hour and a half, and is only at around 90% charge after this time. I don't have that long to actually get it charged in the morning before heading off to work!

I'm using the same fast charger, and the new cable which shipped with the watch. Is there something different that I should be doing?

Happy days! After the reset, my watch has charged in under an hour, as I would expect it to. Thanks for your response. Much appreciated. :)

Good day to you kazzawatch,

Are you charging your Apple Watch when it’s back is flat down on the charging cable? If not, are you able to test that? We want to be sure the watch isn’t losing connection during the charge process.

Is there any type of protective film on the watch cable or the back of your Apple Watch that might be causing interference?

Lastly, you mentioned using the new cable that came with your Apple Watch, are we able to test with the cable you use with your previous Apple Watch?

Hi and thanks for responding. Yes- it’s lying flat on the cable/charger. This is my fourth watch (had previous Series), so I’m aware of how’s quickly it should charge. I tried it with the cable from my Series 7 yesterday and the charge time was the same: nearly 2 full hours from

a battery level of 42%! Have performed hard reset so it’s on the charger now and I’ll see how long it takes this morning. 🤞🏼
