Ipad 2021 vs iPad Air 2022

Hi! I'm looking to buy an iPad for university and I was hoping for some advice.

The iPad would mostly be used for taking notes by pen, downloading digital classroom material and more studying.. The price difference between the iPad and the iPad Air is quite big, so I was wondering if it would be worth it to pay for the Air if I am only going to use the iPad for the above mentioned stuff.

It's important that the iPad isn't too slow and that it lasts at least 5 years. Would the iPad 2021 be sufficient for that? I would love to hear some tips! Thank you in advance!

The 2021 iPad has the A13 Bionic chip. The most recent A Series chip is the A16 Bionic. This means the 2021 chip is 3 years old. The iPad Air has the M1 which is the latest M series chip available for iPad. M series chips are desktop class chips that are also used in MacBook Air and MacBook Pro units.
