my imessage on iphone 12 will not send or receive texts from android users. I have tried all the troubleshooting things- resetting the network settings, etc. Any ideas? This started 3 days ago.

As Idris points out, SMS text messages are a Carrier-specific service. Your phone number may not be adequately provisioned.
If you are talking about iMessages, that is an Apple-specific service that only works between iPhones.

You need to contact Verizon. Something is wrong with your SMS set up in your account.
And, even if something was working fine up until three days ago, things can go wrong on the carrier's end for.... no known reason.
