iPhone messages indexing

I have had my 14 pro for about a week and my messages still say they are indexing?? How do I get all of my messages back?

I can’t search for messages before a few weeks ago When I go to search in my messages it only shows messages up to about 3 weeks ago. I’ve tried syncing to ICloud and it doesn’t help, and I’ve tried to turn iCloud messaging off and clicking disable and download but that didn’t help either. For a while it was saying “ more results will be shown when messages finishes indexing” and I scrolled through the community to figure that out and it’s no longer showing that but still won’t let me search older messages. Any ideas? My phone just automatically updated about two days ago and that when this started.

Messages and photos don’t finish indexing I recently just updated to ios 18.5 and now I can’t look up any messages or photos from my message threads from anything before 3 months ago. It says it will show results once messages finish indexing and I haven’t had this issue prior to updating. The messages still exist but I can no longer look them up using key words. I’ve tried going through the settings to icloud and turning the message back-up on and off like some forums suggested. I tried restarting my phone and still the same thing, I’m really bummed out as I have meaningful messages from people who are no longer in my life that I like to revisit when times are tough. Has anyone found a solution to this? 😕

Messages not indexing because of iCloud My messages have not indexed past about a week ago, which is a problem I've never experienced until now. I had at least a few months' worth of messages about a week ago, but I suspect that the new iOS is preventing full indexing now? When I tried to disable iCloud and re-enable it again to hopefully push my phone to index my messages, it told me my phone can't sync to iCloud because I've run out of iCloud storage — a problem I've never had until recently. Do I really have to pay $10 just to have access to my messages?

It sounds like you may be keeping a lot of messages with a lot of big atrachments.

Make sure you have the phone on charge, on WiFi and locked (no night clocks) all night every night.
