[Massive Bug on airpod Pro 2nd gen] - Audio drop out and active noise cancellation disable

Setup:

  • Airpod Pro 2nd Gen - out of box firmware version (pre order)
  • Macbook pro MacOs Monterey version 12.6
  • MediaPlayer: Youtube / Youtube Music / Spotify

While listening to music in Active noise cancellation mode, the active noise cancellation mode is switching to transparency mode (I didn't ask for anything) then the audio stop. After 3 seconds (approx) the left earbuds start playing again followed by the right one half a second after then the active noise cancellation is coming back.

This is happening really often... Let me know if you want more detail but you got everything I think.

Hope this is gonna be fixed soon :) !

Hello SparklingDiva,

We want to help get this taken care of with your MacBook Pro.

How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support is an important first step.

1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Open the lid of your charging case.
4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

Test after if the same issue occurs. Verify as well if you use another device with the AirPods Pro, does the same thing happen?

We hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hi there,

I will try this out and I will let you know if this is fixing the issue :) !

It is only happening with my MacBook pro. It is working with other devices such as an Android phone, iPad M1 and iPhone 12/13/14.

Is you Macbook Pro Intel based?

So yes, to be more precise on the Macbook:

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019 (intel base)
  • macOS Monterey Version 12.6
