Hello, I got an iPod touch 5 from eBay and the serial number in settings doesn’t match the one on the device like engraved. Is this
device safe for use? Is my Apple ID at risk? Thanks.
This is a security issue. I would contact Apple directly and discuss with them. Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support
Personally, I think it may simply indicate that the iPod was repaired, or more specifically, it was put together using parts from at least two separate iPods. Perhaps the repairer was working on two iPods at the same time and accidently swapped the covers when putting them back on.
However, don't let my thoughts prevent you from following bobjbkln's suggestion to contact Apple.
