I bough apple watch online to gift my husband size was 40mm want to get it changed to 44 as size is small can anyone guide how to do it and process

You will need to contact Apple to see about returning the device and ordering the correct one. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return the device for a full refund. The larger phone costs more than the smaller one, so you would need to order the correct one after you return the one you have. See this link, select Apple Online Store.
