Siri Scheduling a home automation

Hi,

Just seeing if anyone has a suggestion or is experiencing a similar issue. Prior to upgrading to ios 16.1 on iPhone (and subsequent HomePod) I could ask Siri to turn off a wifi power point/light bulb in XX minutes and she would schedule the request. Now I simply get a “Sorry, I can’t schedule that for you.” With the option to go to the home app. I have fully reset the HomePod and started it fresh, also checked there is no further update for HomePod. TIA

HomePod mini, 16

Hi ryzii,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We've looked in to this and were unable to find the option of asking Siri to schedule an action such as turning the lights off. However, you can create a scene or automation for things such as the time of day. Guidance below is from Create scenes and automations with the Home app - Apple Support.

1. In the Home app, tap or click the Add button , then select Add Automation .
2. Choose A Time of Day Occurs, then choose a time and day. Tap or click People to have the automation occur at a certain time when someone is home. Tap or click Next.
3. Select scenes and accessories to automate, then tap or click Next.
4. To adjust an accessory on iPhone or iPad, touch and hold it. On Mac, click the accessory. To preview the automation, tap or click Test This Automation.
5. Tap or click Done.

Another helpful article to review is Control your home with Siri - Apple Support.

If you have any feedback for adding features, you can always send them to Product Feedback - Apple.

Cheers!

Hi faith185,

thanks for you response, I was more querying the fact I used to be able to do this requested and with the latest release the feature has gone. I have other automations running but this was a handy feature to use with my power point that runs my dryer. I can put the dryer on and have it turn off in 20 minutes when I know the items are dry. Rather than the dryer run for the hour long cycle.

Was just wanting a feature that was available before, not requesting a new feature.
