action button not starting swim workout when set up as such

I have set the action button to start a swim workout. However, when I push the button it only opens the work out app for the pool swim. It does not start the pool swim. This then requires me to use the screen in the water to start it, which like using other Apple Watches is problematic as the screen is not responsive when wet.

can with a software update the action button start the work out automatically, not just open the workout app to the swim selection. Or better yet, add the function for a double tap of the action button for a secondary action---
