How can I free up space on my Mac by sending to iCloud?

I have a little over 15% of storage left on my MacBook pro's disk and just bought more icloud storage. I am wondering how I can free up some of the space on my Mac by pushing a lot of it to iCloud. Please help

See a thread Cloud and Hard Drive - Apple Community

If you had saved iCloud documents , or photos in hard drive space don't , simply turning on apple inbuilt features like notes, mails , photos , calendars ...in Mac system preferences is sufficient the data saved in applications will sync to iCloud .
