Factory Reset

How do I run a Factory Reset on my MacBook Pro 15" w/Retina (mid-2012)?

Yes, it's still running great, but I need to get the keyboard replaced since a few keys have started sticking and a couple keys have broken clips on the keys (Caps Lock, Shift, H, N M, A, etc.)

For now, I have just been using an external Apple peripheral keyboard and use the laptop on my desk like a desktop. Also hooked with a large new monitor! Works great! It's just not handy when I want to be "mobile" with it and only want to take the laptop and no other peripherals. I haven't had any other problems with it since 2012! I love it!

Now, I have to ship it out -of-state to an authorized repair place.

I have already done a backup to an external hard drive, but they are asking me to do a Factory Reset before it ships.

Can you please provide Step-by-Steps?

FYI, Apple considers your Mid 2012 notebook "Obsolete," as far as, repairs go. That would also include Apple Authorized Service Providers. Not sure what "authorized repair place" you are referring to that can circumvent that fact.

Regardless, if you still want to go ahead with that repair, you may find the following articles helpful:

Perform as Instructed by Apple:

The instructions would come with the send-in box they ship you.
