Apple Mail

Hi,

My Apple Mail sent and received emails always used to be there when I switched my Mac on and opened Mail. Now I find that after opening Mail I get a kind of banner for each email and they can they take up to half a minute or more for the email text to appear. Does anyone have an idea why this is now happening ?

Cheers
