How much is my iPad Air 2 worth

Our adult training facility (ATF) is in the process of upgrading our iPads. We have 16 iPad Air 2s that we would like to trade in for 7 new ones. I was curious to know if this is possible considering the number of iPads involved.

iPad Air 2, iOS 12

Apple accepts one device in trade for one new device.

This is only true of the online store, and only during the purchase of a new device. At a physical Apple store, they can take more than one device for trade in at a time.

You can trade in any number of devices for gift cards through the Trade In website at any time: link-> Apple Trade In - Apple

You would have to trade them one by one, but you can continue to set up trade ins after each one is done.

As Phil wrote, it's certainly possible. However, depending on your Trade-In estimate, you may find it more lucrative to simply sell them online. The only way to know for sure is to check it here - Apple Trade In - Apple

While you'll get some trade-in value from Apple, I am sorry to report that it will be very little money in tradd as 2014 iPad Air 2 models are 8-years old, in 2022, and full Apple iPadOS support will end for these iPad models at some version of iPadOS 15, currently.

Your faciiity will still need to have quite a bit of budget to pay for 9 new iPad models.

You maybe better off trying to sell these devices, directly, on your own, to maximise the potential of getting more money for these aging iPad models.

You can learn how to erase and reset these devices to sell by tapping on this Apple support link below

While Apple has stopped iPadOS support for the 2014 iPad Air 2 and 2015 iPad Mini 4, these devicd still have, approximately, 3 more years, or so, of third party apps support from third party app developers.

These 9 iPad Air 2 models will still be useful, for the next three years, to people who csnnot afford a brand new iPad model.

Best of Luck to You!

You can trade-in as many qualifying devices as you wish - either in-store at a physical Apple Store, or using the online trade-in process. While are some procedural wrinkles (that I’ll describe below), you are not limited to a one-for-one trade.

Apple Trade In - Apple

Each device is assessed its own right. Many choose to complete their trade-in in-store - as doing so removes any uncertainty as to trade-in values or acceptance.

If using the online trade-in, you will be sent a shipping kit for each device. Devices are returned, assessed and a credit value assigned. When making a trade-in separately to purchase, the trade-in value is returned to you by way of an Apple gift card for each device - and these can be used to purchase whatever you wish with Apple.

If a trade-in is initiated during an online purchase for a new device, you will be limited to trading-in a single device for the transaction; you will initially pay full price for the item, but will receive a refund against your credit card upon subsequent return (and acceptance) of the item that was returned for trade-in. While you can only trade a single device with this specific process, you can use the credit generated from prior trade-in as part payment.

By contrast, a trade-in can be made using the online process without making a new purchase. As described above, for qualifying devices that are accepted, this will generate a credit (via Apple Gift Card) to used against a future purchase. When purchasing online from Apple, if memory serves correctly, you can use up to eight Gift Cards towards full or part payment during an online purchase transaction. As such, you can effectively “trade” up to eight devices against a purchase of one or more new devices.

I hope this clarification and explanation proves to be helpful.
