How to cancel a request for an Apple ID account recovery made not by me?

I received an email stating that someone I don't know has requested my apple account recovery, and that Apple will phone them to help with the recovery ( the number given was in Morocco and I have no connections to that country). I did change my account password on the apple website.

I was not sure whether the email was legit. Is there a way I can cancel recovery of my account requested by someone else without clicking on the link in the email. Would such a request appear in my account and where?

What should I do?

Sign out of your Apple ID and then sign back in using your password. That should cancel the Account Recovery.

I did signed in and out on the Apple webpage.

when looking for an advice I was puzzled by this advice on Apple webpage

'Cancel your request

If you remember your information and can sign in successfully, your wait period cancels automatically and you can use your Apple ID immediately.

To cancel a recovery request that you did not make, follow the instructions in your email confirmation.'

How would I know that the request for recovery is cancelled?
