Apple Watch shows red exclamation point and won't reconnect to iPhone.

I updated my iPhone to 16 and my iwatch had the apple icon on it. Today I kept it off the charger and googled about the icon. I disconnected my watch from the my phone and now I cannot get it to reconnect. I now have a red exclamation point and it has the supply web address below it. I went on to the web address and it told me to click on the button below the crown twice, but it just went back to the exclamation point.
