Ringtones without iTunes

how do I put a ringtone on iphone 7 running ios 15.7 without iTunes

I am running MacOS 11.7 Big Sur on a MacBook Air 13

iTunes is on the phone but not the mac. I tried connecting and then dragging and dropping but even though there was a green plus sign it would not go. Idea's?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.7
