I noticed that the policy says that find my iPhone must be on throughout the entire claims process. What happens if the phone is stolen and find my iphone is immediately turned off by the criminal? Am I not covered?

Find My Phone can't be turned off by the criminal unless you give them your password. How did they get your password?
Am I still covered by apple care if my phone is stolen and the thief manages to turn off find my iphone?
