Hello, Poquito15.

That's unexpected behavior and we'd like to help. If you have not done so already, please make sure to restart your iPhone by following these steps: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support.

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, or 13

      1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
      2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
      3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

Test this behavior out by using Dictation in another app besides Messages. Also try toggling Dictation off and back on under Settings > General > Keyboards > Enable Dictation.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!

Hi Poquito15,

Thanks for the additional information. It is greatly appreciated.

At Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Do you have another language added as an option?

Add or remove a keyboard for another language
1. Go to Settings  > General > Keyboard.
2. Tap Keyboards, then do any of the following:
• Add a keyboard: Tap Add New Keyboard, then choose a keyboard from the list. Repeat to add more keyboards.
• Remove a keyboard: Tap Edit, tap the Delete button next to the keyboard you want to remove, tap Delete, then tap Done.
• Reorder your keyboard list: Tap Edit, drag the Reorder button next to a keyboard to a new place in the list, then tap Done.
If you add a keyboard for a different language, the corresponding language is automatically added to the Preferred Language Order list. You can view this list and add languages directly to it in Settings > General > Language & Region. You can also reorder the list to change how apps and websites display text.

If so, and you still want to be able to use a different language keyboard, we'd advise to contact Apple Support. Let them know what happens, and what the results of your testing was.

Take care!

Poquito15,

We may not be understanding your issue correctly. If you select the microphone under the keyboard when you are sending a message, Dictation mode will remain selected until you select the keyboard again. This is the same as if you selected the emoji palette, it stays on emojis until you switch back to the normal keyboard.

If this isn't what you are seeing, please get back to us with a more detailed explanation of the issue.

Regards.

Thank you for your response Karina. The problem isn’t that it stays in dictation mode. It is that while I am in dictation mode that little bubble comes up that has the microphone icon and underneath it it says English (USA) that’s what stays up the whole time I’m dictating. So I can’t actually see what I am dictating because the bubble stays on top of it. On my original request, I attached a picture of what I see when I am dictating. Maybe that will make it a little bit clearer. Thank you for your time.
