A frustrating issue that must have a simple explanation!

Right I'm not sure to post this in the iTunes section, Iphone, iPod, iPad or the Mac Mini section but i'll explain my problem. because it does the same on all my devices.

I only noticed this problem when i went to do an iPhone firmware update from 4.0 to 4.0.1. The problem may have been created earlier i don't know.

Basically I did the firmware update as normal and just as it was getting to the end of "Restoring iPhone firmware" it seems to freeze, now it doesn't freeze in the sense the mac stops, the progress bar is still moving but it just comes to a stop and does not finish off. I have left it 12 hours and still came back to the same. Basically you then have to use the Recboot app to kick it into touch and the whole process finishes off as normal.

Now this isn't a dodgy firmware file or USB port and I have deleted and re-installed iTunes the correct way 3 times and still the same problem. This problem also does exactly the same on my ipods and my iPad so I am not sure if I am missing a file somewhere in the library or preferences or similar folder that is creating the issue or is it a problem with my Mac Mini.

I can do firmware/restores OK on my macbook with no issues at all so it is definitely a problem with either my mac mini or iTunes but I can't understand why because as I have said I have re-installed iTunes 3 times.

Has anyone else experienced this and resolved it. I am sure it it something simple that I've done, maybe I deleted something i shouldn't of somewhere but it is frustrating the **** out of me.

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.4)
