iPhone delivery issue

i followed the rules and order an iPhone on release day. Unfortunately Apple sent my phone via UPS. The phone made it from China all the way to the local delivery truck before someone decided to misappropriate my phone. Anyone else having similar issues?Apparently UPS incentivizes their people to steal apple devices and protects their drivers. UPS literally told me in a text response.

I spent two or three hours working through UPS phone trees and claim forms, only to get a non response. I had to go online to flame them just to get an explanation and felt people should be aware how useless UPS can be.

I did contact apple and only had to use a few incorrect inquiries to get a valid answer and help. That only took a half hour of testing to get through. And they were able to help. Part of my complaint is I should have to spend three hours to get to the right person. That is on apple for partnering with a company that is not up to the task.

Please understand I spent hours working through channels with UPS and no one could give me any information. They just sent me from department to department. It was until I gave up and responded to some random UPS posting on Facebook that I finally got that answer. That seems more than a tad shady to me. If it was true the first person that answered the phone at UPS should have given me that info.

While I can only imagine the frustrations you encountered w/ UPS, they were unfortunately self-inflicted and a result of “barking up the wrong tree.”

UPS’ reply was polite, professional, and apparently factual.

Your contract was with Apple. Period.

Apple contracted - and paid - UPS to deliver your phone to you at your address.

If UPS failed to do so, they “Failed” Apple (the shipper) … not you.

Your “beef” is with Apple.

Apple’s “beef” is with UPS.

Just a short note, if you have the same situation with FedEx or DHL you will get the same answers. The company that originated the shipment is the one that has to start the investigation. If is is a porch pirate incident it is different you contact the police in that case as it is neither the fault of the shipping company nor the retailer.
