Is there any way to select specific messages to delete over a year conversations?

I am not aware of a way to filter messages in that manner. The search box does not provide a way to filter by date. Since the messages are displayed by date, with the newest messages at the top of the list, you could go down and find a place to start and then manually select messages after that to delete.
