Return Apple Store Purchase without an Order Number

I purchased a case for my iPhone at an Apple Store. I would like to return the case for credit, but the nearest store is a 3 hour round trip. Apple will not provide any option other than physically returning the item to an Apple Store. Telephone support hasn't been able to offer any options to this policy.

Any suggestions?

If that is Apple's policy, there is nothing we, as other users, can do. You need a receipt and/or an order number. If you bought it in store, you should have a purchase receipt and will most likely need to return it in store.
