SOS mode only on Wi-Fi?

On Wi-Fi at a select location my 13 pro goes into sos mode (according to status bar) anywhere IN the house but if I turn Wi-Fi off or just get out of range of this Wi-Fi outside the house and get hopefully a few bars of service my phones fine and works normal. Can anyone explain this?

Hey there kyron258,

That is unexpected behavior, and we'd like to rule out some possible causes, along with better understanding what's happening:

  1. You mentioned this occurs while being connected to your house Wi-Fi network, but does the same issue occur if you connect to another Wi-Fi network at a different location?
  2. We see you have iOS 16, but the latest version is iOS 16.0.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Have you already tried the steps in the link above your post as it addresses this issue? Here's the link again just in case: If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad

Cheers!

kyron258,

Since theses only happening with one Wi-Fi network, follow the guidance found here to make sure your Wi-Fi router settings match recommendations:

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

"Before changing the settings on your router

  1. Back up your router's settings, in case you need to restore them.
  2. Update the software on your devices. This is critical to ensure that your devices have the latest security updates and work best with each other.
  1. On each device that previously joined the network, you might need to forget the network to ensure that the device uses the router's new settings when rejoining the network."

Take care.
